Agreed! And how many of those mothers are out there and too afraid to speak about their experience because they feel like failures? That breaks my heart that they must feel so alone in all this.

I also think you are right on about a personalized statement. For someone to say “I didn’t know love until I became a mother,” while still slightly problematic, at least doesn’t imply that NO ONE can know love until they have a child. I prefer the two examples you included. I think those are so compassionate and beautiful while still honoring the mother’s experience. Lovely.
