Ana Frusinoiu I agree with you 100% about American culture. It infuriates me the way we glorify sex in the entertainment industry and play-act at how liberated we are, when in reality, there is so much shame (I don’t know how you would define it, but I’m very clear that that is my experience and the truth of how I feel) around it, especially for women.
I’m painfully aware of our hypocritical sexual attitudes and behaviors, our puritanical shackles, and the false mask of our exhibitionism. And I know that many other western cultures do not (thankfully) have the same issues.
I’m very glad this isn’t an issue for you or for the women in your culture. That’s the way it should be.
Honestly, looking at our current religious and political climate, I’m not overly confident that Americans will evolve from this with any sense of alacrity, but I’m trying for myself and hope that my progress in this arena will help other American women be able to embrace their sexual sovereignty.
