First of all, as I started reading this, I was watching a movie and while reading the metaphor of the nest, a character in the show found a nest. It gave me chills.
Then I experienced one of the most intense reads I've ever encountered. I can't even tell you how powerful this was.
As I have been trying to reconnect with some broken pieces of my cultural heritage, like mythology and spiritual practices that are missing because they were burned by Christians, I feel this tug where that missing information is. And I cannot stop thinking about the people who were taken from their homes, their countries, their continent, who lost their names, their families, their ENTIRE history. Or those who were erased in place (indigenious cultures). I have no words for the...trauma (not a strong enough word) of that. How do we EVER give that back, repair that damage (not a strong enough word)?
This article helped me understand it even more deeply, for which I am grateful. I think it's so important for people to FEEL this. We have to be led by this knowledge.
