First of all, in 2021, you'd think that white men on horseback with whips patroling the border during an influx of Black immigrants would have an ENORMOUS sense of the gravity of this situation. That they would be intensely aware of the part they were playing in the history of this nation and choose NOT to replay the script of white supremacy/nationalism. And yet...nope. Apparently, that's too big of an ask. (Honestly, it chills me to the bone that the men in these photos and videos seem to have ZERO awareness of the gravity of their actions - it's abhorrent.)

Secondly, are we a nation of immigrants who protect those who come here for a better opportunity, a better life? Or not? Because take that goddamn statue down if what we really meant was "only white immigrants."
