Here’s a great definition of restorative justice from U of Wisconsin: “Restorative justice seeks to examine the harmful impact of a crime and then determines what can be done to repair that harm while holding the person who caused it accountable for his or her actions.” There is nothing in there stating requirements by the wronged party, and I think that is entirely appropriate. I’m not sure I understand why the wronged party should be required to do anything…? If someone did something wrong, the responsibility is to make it right — period. If it brings peace and forgiveness to the situation, all the better, but I see no reason a wronged party should be required to do anything.
In any case, I don’t think Anderson is sitting around waiting for anything or stewing on unresolved anger. I guarantee she has suffered far, far worse injustices on a regular basis during her career, the sex tape incident being right up there. A hell of a lot of people owe her an apology and she doesn’t owe anyone forgiveness so far as I’m concerned.
