I am also fortunate that my mother makes sure to include me in Mother’s Day celebrations and treats me the same as she treats my sister and sister-in-law. She gets me presents and celebrates all the kids’ lives that I have touched as a teacher and former volunteer mentor.

I, too, am very happy with my life, but there is that little wonder of what might have been. I do always think about that daughter I was so sure I would have and I think of what she might have been like. I sometimes “miss” her, if that’s possible. But yes, being an auntie is the BEST.
