I am very glad you said that because I meant to add an author’s note at the end to address that. Please accept my apologies that I forgot to do that — I regret anything that came off as judgmental.
I just went in and added the author’s note, which basically says I know so many women who are insanely wild who do wear makeup (sometimes LOTS of it), who dye their hair, who wear high heels, etc. And I recognize their wildness just as much. Some of these details were just me poking fun at myself because I was always the one in my groups of friends who was considered “earthy” or “natural,” while everyone else was “pretty” and “sexy.”
Now I look back and laugh at my wildness (which could also be laziness, ha ha) — I laugh (lovingly) at the young woman who always had messy hair, who was sick of getting up early to put on makeup, whose feet hurt like hell in high heels and as such, refused to wear them. I’m just a messy, dirt-covered little wolf compared to most women I know and I make fun of myself a little bit for that. ;)
