There are just some women in my life who are extremely conservative about men and marriage. And for my sister — I don’t know if this contributed to our conflict. I have a feeling it did, to some extent. I think it shocked her. I have always tried to do the right thing, to the point of being called a goody-two-shoes most of my life. I think this shocked her that I would be so easily taken in and wasn’t strong enough to just walk away from the situation.
