I could not agree more with ALL of this.
As you have probably noticed in my recent political pieces, I am really struggling with idea that "not all Republicans are racist." I know that must be true somewhere, because generalizations of that magnitude don't prove to be true, BUT....it cannot be denied that the GOP enabled racism, failed to call it out at EVERY turn, and continues, as a party, to discount needs and perspectives that aren't white.
Further...I just cannot find any way to argue that people who voted for Trump aren't racist and worse, complacent in their racism. (Because technically, I think all white people are racist, or to be more nuanced, have racism within them, and what matters is how they are confronting their racism on a daily basis. People who voted for Trump are clearly NOT looking at their racism nor do they care to, which I think is disturbing and dangerous.)
And white women...I don't even know what to say about this. What mind-altering drug are half of us taking to have made this all okay? I am pondering writing something about this, but I'm still so stunned that I'm not sure I could come up with a helpful conclusion.
Sorry for the long comment. Your articles inspire so much energy in me. <3
