I didn’t address anything other than what I feel is an unethical standard for dealing with childhood obesity — pills and surgery for 12- and 13-year-olds? Diet clinics for kids as young as 2? Are you honestly okay with that? And are we really going to pretend that this isn’t about profit?

These lifestyle changes that you’re talking about that have evolved over time and have been led by American institutions that WANT us to be unhealthy (more profit) are another story.

This issue deserves its own story and that’s what I gave it. Focusing on the issue with these guidelines doesn’t mean we’re ignoring everything else. Many layers exist within this problem. And I’d argue that it’s not really that simple, at all — not when our institutions are purposefully set against us across multiple fronts.
