I have always had an instinctively hatred for the 50's. My mother always described her childhood as so idyllic but it seemed to me (just from what I've seen and read, obviously) that women were more trapped than ever back then. When I saw The Hours, that's exactly what I imagined of that time period. It's my personal version of hell.
