I have encountered this on many occasions. Comments like, “Well, you don’t know what it’s like to be up all night with a baby, month after month, year after year,” or “I can’t imagine what it must be like to be able to go home and just watch TV all night instead of making dinner for three screaming children…” One woman actually asked me once, “What’s it like to be able to just sit on your couch all day and do nothing?” It’s so bizarre, the assumptions some of them have made. Why would anyone assume someone is sitting on their couch all day because they don’t have kids?! LOL.

Motherhood is a strange phenomenon in this country…in my opinion. It can bring out a weird elitist streak in some women. Though as you can imagine, I find it endlessly fascinating to write about. ;)
