I have had this happen to me so many times. I just want to express how deeply sorry I am about that. Not that you lost someone to have a relationship with (hope he didn’t let the door hit him on the way out!) but that you were so deeply disrespected in this way. I am done dismissing this behavior as just impoliteness, or entitlement.

This is rape culture in action. This is egregious and it is damaging to a woman’s soul. I’m done pretending like this is just a disappointment and trying to tell myself and others to shake it off and keep walking. No. I’m going to kick and scream until we are heard and I’m going to give women who experience this all my compassion and strength to help heal these violations.
