I heard the same criticism — a woman I watched it with said, “The Superbowl isn’t just for men, anymore. Why are they letting these two women dance around like strippers? Women and children don’t want to see this.”

I looked at her and said, probably too vehemently: “I LOVE IT!”

I agree with every one of your points. And let’s also remember that this is just another way to avoid celebrating two, strong Latina women who kicked ass, dared to deliver a bilingual performance in the current political climate, dared to celebrate their heritage, dared to call us out for treating Puerto Rico like it isn’t part of our country, and dared to make a political statement about what’s happening to children at the border.

God FORBID we confront our racism and white supremacy. No, please, let’s talk about how slutty they are, instead.
