I just love your son. My nephews have all been very aware of these terms and circumstances since they were quite young. What’s hard is to see them become more entrenched in the binary as they get older and are further exposed to our cultural values. My gender-bending nephew, Kai, the one with the long hair, recently expressed confusion and disapproval of the appearance of a drag queen in a movie my sister and I were watching one day recently and we both looked at each other with the same disappointment in our eyes. This kid used to wear dresses and high heels, for god’s sake!
