I like your point, but I think we have to remember that it’s more nuanced than this. We all have misogyny within us because that is how our culture conditioned us. Everyone is somewhere on the spectrum — and perhaps no one will ever get to a perfect place of not having any misogyny, whatsoever.

The men who do this kind of thing don’t enter relationships thinking that they hate women or are misogynists, for the most part. Yes, some are actively, happily pursuing misogyny, but in most cases, these men don’t have any idea how deep their biases and prejudices toward women go. And in fact, most of them believe they are good men who have been good husbands.

Many people remain asleep to all of that, even to the point of being unconscious about their behavior and beliefs. That’s what is so scary about all this. In many cases, it isn’t men choosing to be misogynists or a bad person — they literally have no idea the harm they are causing.
