I love that mindset, but I have not found it to be something one can bank on. As a single, childless woman, I’ve always been first on duty for caregiving and helping friends and family and it is rarely returned because, as they all say, they have kids unlike me and don’t have free time like I do to spend on others. Our culture doesn’t teach us reciprocity so much as individualism.
