I think all patriarchal religions have a foundational belief in the inherent goodness of men, which in turn reinforces the narrative that they are entitled to all good things (i.e. a dutiful wife, money, security, etc.). I think this is why so many men are still invested in this notion of the “good man” and “nice guy.”
