I’m a horrible perpetrator of overly-encouraging hugs. I’m trying so hard to correct myself. With my sister’s kids, I always yell, “Where’s my hug?!” and then I say, “But only if you want to give one.” LOL. I’m definitely learning, and I’ve had some talks with the older ones that I want them to feel free to tell me when they want space. That they can say, “No, I don’t want a hug now, or a high five, or anything.” It was so ingrained in me and my siblings when we were kids that we HAD to hug all of our relatives that some of us accidentally passed that on. But like I said…I’m getting better with time! :)
