I'm American and I can't tell you how many times I've gotten comments or notes from Brits who say, "I don't understand the racism in your country. We don't have that here." Incredibly, one of them even said, "None of us here in the UK can relate to what's happening in the U.S. All this colonizer stuff - that's just not part of our culture." I was GOBSMACKED. Do they not know how the U.S. was born? Are they unaware of the British colonies across the globe? I mean...what?!
