It Shouldn’t Be This Hard to Find Solutions for Perimenopausal Symptoms
Women over 45 keep falling through the cracks of the medical system…and no one cares enough to correct the problem
I started experiencing the symptoms of perimenopause when I was 41. I suppose that’s right on brand for me. I’ve always been a little early when it comes to these things.
I had my period by the time I was 12 and C cup breasts by the time I was 14. Then a first pregnancy and miscarriage at 19.
I wasn’t even 20 by the time I’d hit all the big reproductive mileposts of young womanhood.
So it makes sense I’d hit perimenopause somewhat early. I had hoped it was a sign that I’d also reach menopause early and have a somewhat speedy and smooth transition.
But that’s not exactly how things have unfolded…
At almost 49, I’m ready to be done. I know a lot of women who feel that way simply because of the challenges of having a menstruating body and the huge risks those bodies have to face any time they want to enjoy a sexual experience with a man. Honestly, after a few decades, it’s just exhausting.
