Michael Murphy Yes, clear communication is absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, the shame women have around sexuality often extends to their BOUNDARIES about sex, as well — meaning, those who are ashamed of talking about sex are often ashamed or afraid to speak freely in any way, even to say that they aren’t ready to have sex yet. The only thing they feel safe doing is to run away and not address it directly.

I’m sorry that happened to you, but I imagine the woman who did it also dealing with deep challenges with her emotional and sexual life. I don’t know if that makes you feel better or not! :) But yes, I would suspect that is true.

But yes, I think you’re point is important — we should try to be very clear with one another about our intentions and desires from the very beginning. Thank you for your comment!!
