OMG, I think about that all the time. I have seen too much to believe that marriage=happy. I think if our culture was neutral about relationships that marriage would not be a default. It wouldn’t be so common as it is today.

And YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS our stories — fiction, in particular — needs to represent the new world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many stories do we see about single female characters? So few, I can count them on one hand. And stories that don’t focus on traditional families — not that that’s a bad thing, but just more VARIETY. I don’t think my nieces and nephews have ever watched a movie or TV show that didn’t feature a family just like theirs — because there are so few that show different ways of living. It’s crazy.
