So many layers to this that I don't even know how to cover it all!

I was the family genealogist all through my twenties. I'm sorry to say that though I'm very glad to have recorded as much as I did, I spent so much time recording notes and scanning photographs...and in the end, no one is really interested in any of it and I didn't end up having children, so there is no one to pass this on to. I wish I had spent some of that time differently. Oh well!

And it's so funny you made the Frodo vs. Indy comparison. Again, there's a lot there, so I'll just say I have recently thinking about (and almost wrote an essay about) how much I wanted to be a hero: Aragorn, or Galadriel, perhaps. But in the end, I'm pretty sure I'm Bilbo. And I realized there is value in the hobbit, too! (And Pippin is my favorite!)
