Thank you so much for speaking up about this. I think it's insanely naive the way the medical professional refuses to acknowledge that everyone is different and that certain things ONLY apply to certain age groups (or genders or whatever). There is NO POSSIBLE WAY they can make those kinds of generalizations with any sense of accuracy. They need to LISTEN to patients.
It is very common for me to respond to antidepressants with mild but horrible bouts of mania. Each time I reported my struggles, my doctors always said, "That's not a known side effect. This is your anxiety speaking."
It was NOT my anxiety and I am pissed that those doctors refused to acknowledge the reality of my experience.
