The Inanna story is from a Sumerian myth that dates back to 4,000 BC, I think (don’t quote me on the timeline). She was known as The Queen of Heaven and in one story, she had to face her sister, Ereshkigal, Queen of the Underworld. At each gate, she had to take off her weapons, clothing, and jewelry, and when she finally got to face her sister, Ereshkigal killed her. Eventually, she was rescued and brought back to life, etc.

Literature major here! ;)
