The title here says EVERYTHING. This is a valid and scary question. I genuinely think there is a huge population of white women who are so comfortable with their position as #2 to their white husbands that they think nothing will touch them. Maybe they don't remember that Serena had to give up reading in order to take her "rightful" place in society and when she defied Gilead law by reading aloud, her husband cut her damn finger off. Because that's the deal that's being made - those power structures will not support women the way they think it will.
