The whole mindset of women’s “honor” and “virtue” is a super slippery slope. That’s 100% an offshoot of the patriarchal expectation that men get to manage women’s bodies. Definite red flag! And I agree that most men have no idea that all this stuff (the benevolent sexism, too) is harmful. I think most of them believe they’re just being nice and haven’t questioned what’s behind these social rituals.
