This article was inspired by the video of the never-been-married 46-year-old woman who is facing the unique circumstances that never-been-married 46-year-old women face (which I know intimately, being a never-been-married 46-year-old woman). There are unique intersections here that affect single women in very particular ways, including the way our culture shames us for not having husbands to take care of us.

I wrote this article addressing the issues this woman is facing, as someone in her demographic. I didn’t say it was exclusively a woman’s issue. You are absolutely correct that single men face challenges, as well.

Yes, my point here is that we should be putting our energy toward building community, rather than trying to procure spouses. I don’t see marriage as an answer when we know those relationships end in divorce 50% of the time. Community is our only true bedrock.
