Though I think you’re right about our lack of value for the elderly in this culture, I also think that there’s another issue at play here that affects where our elders end up. End-stage capitalism has us all scrambling to make ends meet, even when we are working most of the time — I would imagine most American families would not have the time or money to take on full-time care for an elderly family member. Nor the resources to make it happen (houses that can accommodate wheelchairs, etc.). We need a total overhaul on this. And thank you for the kind words. ❤
