Wow, thank you for this incredible comment. First of all, I’m very sorry you have experienced this.

I also am grateful to you for what you have done for the children in your life and for sharing that here. It is so important to hear men’s experiences, too.

Your point about how this makes men feel like shrinking and retreating…that really hit me in the heart. Granted, I certainly do not feel this way about men (I have incredible men in my life who are unbelievably nurturing and good fathers — even those who don’t have children of their own), but I certainly have seen the kind of stereotypical attitudes you are talking about.

Rest assured, there are a lot of women out here trying to change that dialogue and destroy those harmful stereotypes. We will get there someday.
