Yes 100%. I never taught to make waves, to negotiate, to ask for more… I was over 40 by the time I was able to ask a boss for the pay raise and better title. And I do see your point about not having bargaining power…except that to pull in a new person who knew the information and had the connections I had…there was no replacing me at that organization. I have no doubt that they ultimately lost money in that and would’ve been much savvier had they found a way to keep me.

You know, I read in a study once that women typically underestimate their worth and experience in an employment situation whereas men typically overestimate theirs. Very interesting…
