And I don't mean to say that I think marriage is prostitution. I just mean that, for women in particular, sexual relationships often overlap with financial arrangements and economic opportunity (or lack thereof), which is a subject I often think about. For instance, I wonder if I would have stayed with my ex for so long if I had had the financial wherewithal to leave once I realized he was never going to want a family with me and never going to stop sleeping with other women behind my back.
And part of the reason why I find this subject fascinating is just for the reason you said: that I don't believe having sex for money (or marrying for money or whatever) is necessarily bad. As you said, it's complicated and much less about right vs. wrong.
