You know, I still feel regretful of the way I “challenged” my friend Sharon by sending that one letter addressed to her maiden name. That’s not what she chose and I should have supported her from Day 1.

By the same token, I am surprised by how common it is to call a woman who keeps her name by her husband’s name, despite her choice not to take his name. I see that happen very frequently, and the same rule of etiquette should apply — if that’s what they chose, then it should be respected. But that road doesn’t seem to run both ways.

BTW, I love that you have the option of giving your kids your name. That’s awesome. ❤
